Renaissance People - Daniel Marcotte

…The concert featured Bristol Renaissance Faire music director and performer Daniel Marcotte, who played a program of Renaissance music and storytelling.

….Marcotte played a range of tunes, from children’s songs to drinking and fighting pieces.

Story songs were a crowd favorite. Drawing on the crowd for sound effects, Marcotte would alternate between narrating a story and singing verses to accompany the story.

“Library crowds are disturbingly literate,” Marcotte said, adding that story songs were often popular in library venues….

“This show is a different solo act,” Marcotte said.

He also performs a dual music and storytelling performance with a partner. They have performed in venues across the Chicago area.

Marcotte, of Bolingbrook, has played 13 seasons at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. He also is the music director and teacher at St. Scholastica Parish in Woodridge.
